On its own, I guess it is OK, but it misses the weird, trippiness of the original.
I recently re-watched the first episode of the original, and I agree with that assessment for sure. The first episode still has some elements of the original first episode, which is good. I'll withhold my opinion until I've seen the rest of the mini-series.
I finished watching the series. Good on its own and certainly in the same genre as the original, but otherwise it doesn't share much with the old version. I wouldn't even call it a remake. In fact, the new show might have been better if it had dropped some of the elements from the original. In the original, Number 6 was trying to escape all the time and the big balloon was the enforcer. In this version, why have it?
Ian McKellen is great in it though.
